Angelo Angelocci's Bio
Education: BA Eastern Michigan University, 1950; MA University of Michigan, 1951;
Ph.D Wayne State University, 1962.
My education covered art, speech, special education, majoring in Speech and Language
impairments.
I was raised in Trenton, Michigan and graduated from Slocum Truax High School in 1944.
Served in WWII and entered my higher education program in 1946. Met and married my wife
while completing my education. That event included 54+ years of happiness, four children
and eleven grandchildren. My wife died in 2005 from pancreatic cancer.
My professional career began as a high school teacher in Birmingham, Michigan, then to
Western Washington State University, and finally to Eastern University from which I
retired in 1987.
My spiritual journey started as a Roman Catholic, from which I moved to the Episcopal church
in 1949. Activities in the church included: choir, vestry, senior warden, church school
teacher, convention delegate, and area council president.
My interest in the TBLG community stems from my association with members of that community
and two gay nephews, one of whom died of AIDS. I represented my church at several
conferences dealing with the TBLG issues and became active in promoting St. James of Dexter
into an Affirming and Welcoming church. Oasis board membership began in 2008. I am
currently attending St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Chelsea.
